THE PUBLICATIONS

Important publications in American Politics cover a wide spectrum from satirical daily political cartoons to invitation-only scholarly conferences.  The publications listed on this page are thus just a sample of the more formal end of the spectrum.  It is important to note that, with a subject as personal and local as politics, there is no clear relationship between the reputation of a particular publication and its significance among the public.

BLOGS

Because anyone can start a blog or website (see this site, for example), the political science blog's value is in the eye of the beholder. One can find diverse opinions on the "top" political science blogs through searching in Reddit. Certain colleges have their own political science blogs run by political science professors or experts. Harvard has its own, updated political science blog, with Political Science faculty as its main contributors. Marquette provides a nice service in that their library has a page containing links to some of the top political science blogs, organized by categories like political affiliation (Liberal, Conservative) and issues. Specific professors in political science, like Case Western Reserve University's Justin Buechler, also keep blogs.

CONFERENCES

Conferences are important events for leading researchers in the field of Political Science. Yale University's Center for the Study of American Politics is one such conference, held in June of every year. There is also an "American Politics Speaker Series", in which different scholars give lectures at various locations throughout the country. Finally, the website science-community.org is a database which lists political science conferences throughout the world for the upcoming year.
